What is the Trombone?
The trombone is part of the low-brass section and is used in many pieces of music to add dramatic effects to sections throughout the piece. This instrument has a slide instead of keys or valves. The slide has 7 positions (to learn more about the positions, go to the slide chart page). The slide makes it easier to move between notes faster. This instrument can stretch up to 6 feet in seventh position on the slide.
